OPEN Architects was engaged by the Regional Municipality of York to relocate two historic structures for refurbishment and conversion to Municipal offices.
The project involved the removal of portions of the buildings that did not contribute to the historic intent of the refurbishment and remediated and replaced parts of the structures as required. The refurbished buildings received HVAC upgrades and new servicing.
Work included relocating the buildings onto a refurbished site, with public amenities, interpretive signage, landscaping, urban design and accessible elements.
