We custom designed each of the 17 houses in this development in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. The project included working with civil engineers to create roadways on the steep slopes along pre-existing rights of way.
The zoning code restricts building geometry in relation to the slope of the land and other factors, which yields unusual and surprising allowable building envelopes. We worked within these limits rather than seeking relief, in order to enable distinctive and delightful building forms which are easily approved because they comply with zoning.
